Q.
Why does instant adhesive stick immediately?
A.
Adhesives are generally classified into the following three types:
1. Rubber and dextrin are melted in water and organic sollution (liquid). In this case, water and the organic solution soak into the paper and wood or other object, some evaporates into the air, and the rest remain and stick.
2. The type that is a solid at normal temperatures but when it is heated to a liquid and applied, it sticks when it cools down.
3. The type that works when one substance is applied with another, creating adhering properties.
Instant adhesive is the third type. With a minute amount of water in the air or on the objects to be adhered, a chemical change occurs instantly and sticks. The water becomes the substance that causes change. It is thought that instant adhesive was developed as part of the research for bulletproof glass in 1955.
